How to Send WhatsApp Bulk Messages from a CSV File

HappyInAI team · Dec 14, 2024 · 2 min read

A well-prepared CSV file makes the whole campaign smooth. Here's how to send personalised WhatsApp messages from a CSV, Excel file or Google Sheet — safely.

Step 1: Prepare your CSV file

  1. Open Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel.
  2. Put your headers in the first row. The most important column is the phone number — call it mobile.
  3. Write every number with the country code, without + or spaces:
    • ✅ 14155552671 (US)
    • ✅ 8801712345678 (Bangladesh)
    • ❌ +1 (415) 555-2671
    • ❌ 01712345678
  4. Add columns for personalisation, such as name, city or order_id.
  5. Export the file as .csv.

Step 2: Install the extension

Open the Chrome Web Store, search for HappyInAI WhatsApp Bulk Message Sender and click Add to Chrome.

Step 3: Open WhatsApp Web

Go to web.whatsapp.com, scan the QR code with your phone, then click the HappyInAI icon to open the panel.

Step 4: Upload your CSV

Click Upload CSV and choose your file. The extension reads the headers by itself.

Step 5: Write a personalised message

Use the column names in double curly braces:

Hi {{name}} 👋

This is a reminder about your appointment on {{appointment_date}} in {{city}}.

Best,
The HappyInAI team

Step 6: Set the safety options

Set a minimum and maximum delay (for example 10 to 25 seconds). The extension waits a random time between messages, like a person would.

Step 7: Send

Click Send and watch every message go out live in WhatsApp Web, with a sent/failed report at the end.
